Porsche 917K – Famous Racing Car

Porsche 917K – 1970 DAYTONA winner. The cost of this one of the rarest cars in the world is $12,962.00. The price is due to the uniqueness of the car – only 199 copies rolled off the assembly line.

So, the early PORSCHE 917K was based on the 4.5-liter Flat-12 engine developed by Hans Mezger. Racing engines in 1969 produced 580 hp. s., which was already surprising for that time. Later models were equipped with 4.9, 5.0 and 5.4 liter units, each providing a corresponding increase in performance and top speed 200 km/h. This model is the most technologically advanced vehicle of that time and is also very expensive car that took part in the world sportscar championship.

Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato

The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato is another rare classic car, only 100 built in 1959. As a prototype, defined some of the iconic design cues that Aston Martin is still using in 2022.

Distinctive features of the model were:

  • Short chassis. Streamlined shapes.
  • Reinforced engine with 3 Weber carburetors.
  • DB4GT.Mercedes-Benz W196R.

This rare car has been designed to give the driver the same feel on the road and on the track. At the same time, 75 cars were produced with a Touring body, including several lightweight versions created specifically for racing to demonstrate the excellent capabilities of the car. This vehicle became one of the most expensive car sold at auction for $13,447,763.

Leyat Hélica

The Leyat Hélica is extremely rare car of the early 20th century. In 1921, only 30 machines came off the assembly line with a unique design that included a propeller. This car is not large luxury car but it has another notable feature. In fact, we have a helicopter car designed with all the ideas about the aerodynamics of that time. These were the early days of the automotive industry, and all sorts of technologies were used then as a test of what will remain and what will go into oblivion.

Aston Martin DBR1

This is a serial rare race car produced as the concept model of which won the 1000 km race at the Nurburgring in 1958 and competed at Le Mans 4 times. It was run by legends such as Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and Carroll Shelby.

The main feature of the car:

  • New chassis with increased rigidity and reduced weight.
  • Double overhead engine with a six-cylinder engine, which laid the foundation for the DBR1 version.
  • New design with longer wheelbase and wider track. Lightweight magnesium alloy body and space frame chassis designed by designer Ted Cutting.

Mercedes-Benz W196R

Legendary sports car designed under the direction of Hans Scherenberg and built by the Daimler Benz AG team. Competed in the 1954 and 1955 Formula One World Championships. It replaced the Mercedes-Benz W194 and, thanks to the skilful piloting of Juan Fangio and Stirling Moss, won 9 out of 12 races in only two world championships in which he competed.
